Seattle Children’s is increasingly offering more services in Spanish with the goal of improving access to care for Spanish-speaking families in the regions we serve.

Regional clinic websites: Our Wenatchee and Tri-Cities clinic websites are now available in Spanish.

Neurology: New Spanish Neurology Clinic news coming soon!

Otolaryngology: Our Spanish language otolaryngology clinic is held every Tuesday and has excellent capacity at this time. Dr. Juliana Bonilla-Velez, a native Columbian and board-certified, fellowship-trained pediatric head and neck surgeon, leads the clinic. Team members are certified in Spanish. Conditions we see include general head and neck concerns such as sleep disordered breathing, tonsillitis, adenoiditis, ear infections, eustachian tube dysfunction, tympanic membrane perforations, hearing evaluation, stridor, epistaxis, neck masses, congenital anomalies, head and neck infections, ankyloglossia, dysphagia, nasal congestion, sinus problems, as well as vascular anomalies in the head and neck.

Psychiatry: Seattle Children’s holds the Child and Adolescent Latino Mental Health Assessment and Treatment (CALMA) Clinic in Spanish for patients ages 2 through 18 and their parents and caregivers. The clinic is via telemedicine only at this time.  It is led by attending psychologist Cindy Ola, PhD, and attending psychiatrist Laura Black, MD.

Urology: Led by Dr. Nicolas Fernandez, the Spanish Urology Clinic operates at both the Seattle hospital campus and Bellevue Clinic and Surgery Center. Telehealth visits are available for most conditions, including for the first visit. We see patients with common and complex conditions that affect their urinary tract or genitals; any type of urologic condition will be seen. A referral is required.

Seattle Children’s app in Spanish: The Seattle Children’s app is now available in Spanish. It is a free app that connects families to MyChart, interpreter services, and support services, and gives turn-by-turn directions to navigate the hospital. Families can download the app from the Apple App or Google Play stores.

Mindfulness classes for parents and caregivers: Seattle Children’s Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic (OBCC) offers twice monthly drop-in sessions for Spanish-speaking parents and caregivers every second and fourth Thursday of the month from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. via Zoom (Zoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82514097341. Separately, OBCC offers multi-week mindfulness classes in Spanish. The next 6-week, online class begins March 9, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This class is for Spanish-speaking parents of children from birth to 5 years old who want to learn tools to manage stress.
