On March 17, Washington moved to the next phase of COVID-19 vaccination (Phase 1B, Tier 2), which means people who are 16 years and older with certain chronic conditions or disabilities are now eligible to receive the vaccine. Seattle Children’s will continue to serve as a community vaccination site and will offer vaccines through our public portal to all eligible members of the public, as supplies permit.

We are contacting our current patients ages 16 to 21 with certain chronic conditions or disabilities who meet the DOH vaccine eligibility criteria to offer a vaccine appointment.

Regarding this group:

  • They must live in Washington and have had an encounter in the last year at a Seattle Children’s clinic or site.
  • They will be notified via text and MyChart alerts. We are using MyChart to schedule their vaccine appointment.
  • All vaccines will be provided at the main campus vaccine clinic, with the exception of a limited small number at Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic (OBCC).
  • Patients ages 16 and 17 will receive the Pfizer vaccine. Patients ages 18 to 21 may receive either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine depending on availability.
  • We will not notify PCPs whose patients are eligible. To find out if your patient has scheduled a COVID-19 vaccine appointment with us, please use CareEverywhere (if Epic is your medical record system) or access their record via Seattle Children’s EpicCare Link.
  • Vaccinations will be documented in the Washington State Immunization Information System (WAIIS).
  • We ask that providers do not contact the hospital or the Provider-to-Provider Line to expedite their patient’s vaccine or to add them to Seattle Children’s list of eligible patients.

Pediatric patients who are eligible for the vaccine but who are not current Seattle Children’s patients may still access the vaccine through Seattle Children’s public portal or another public vaccination site.
