We’re excited to announce a June 1, 2022 opening for the first finished spaces of Seattle Children’s much-anticipated new addition — formerly called Building Care during construction and now referred to as Forest B (our buildings’ zones are Forest, Mountain, River and Ocean).  The finished spaces include a parking garage for patients and families and a new main lobby that will serve as our 24/7 main entrance. The current main entrance will still be open to patients and families daily until 10 p.m.

Other Forest B spaces will be completed and welcome patients, families and staff in a phased approach over the course of 2022.

What You’ll Find in the New Hospital Addition

Forest B is a 310,000-square-foot addition to Seattle Children’s with eight floors above ground, one below ground and three levels of underground parking for patients and families.

  • Eight new operating rooms (ORs)
  • Two catheterization labs
  • Twenty additional inpatient rooms
  • New outpatient clinical space for the Cancer and Blood Disorders Center (CBDC)
  • Outpatient infusion center
  • Additional retail pharmacy and new inpatient pharmacy
  • New laboratory space and new sterile processing space

The state-of-the-art spaces and technology will allow for even more collaboration between our research and clinical care teams, particularly for cancer patients, and allow us to bring the latest innovations in care right to patients’ bedsides.
